Access, without passwords.
To work on your catalog I need access to your seller account, but I will never ask you for your password, and you shouldn't give it to anyone who does. Every platform below has a proper way to add me. It takes about two minutes.
01Why
A password hands over everything. Delegated access hands over exactly what's needed.
Sharing a password hands over everything: payouts, bank details, the ability to lock you out. It also breaks the moment two-factor authentication is on, and it violates the terms of service on Amazon and Shopify both.
Delegated access is better in every direction. You choose what I can see, you can watch what I do, and you can revoke it in one click the day we finish. I never hold anything that could lock you out of your own business.
02Adding me
Find your platform. Invite hello@bobbykirby.com.
-
Seller Central
Settings → User Permissions → invite hello@bobbykirby.com. For listing work I need Inventory and Manage Listings. Leave payments, banking, and tax settings switched off. I don't need them and shouldn't have them.
-
Staff or collaborator
Easiest: Settings → Users and permissions → Add staff, with Products and Online Store access. Better, if you'd rather not spend a staff seat: send me a collaborator request code and I'll request access as a partner instead.
-
Seller Center
Settings → User Management → Add user. The Item & Inventory role covers listing work. No need for order or financial permissions.
-
Multi-user account access
Account Settings → Multi-user account access → invite my email and assign the listing role. eBay walks you through it and you approve each permission.
-
WordPress user
Users → Add New, role Shop Manager. If the work touches templates or page structure I may need Editor or Administrator. I'll say so first and explain exactly why.
-
Team member invite
TikTok Shop: Seller Center → Account → Member management. Faire: Settings → Team → invite. Both send an email invitation and let you scope what I can do.
03Also send
None of this is sensitive, and all of it saves a week.
Having it up front means I start on the actual work instead of asking questions for a week.
- Products Roughly how many, and which categories
- Priorities The SKUs that matter most, or your worst performers
- Brand Any style guide, tone rules, or words you avoid
- Assets Where your product photography lives
- Goal What "this worked" looks like to you
04Real secrets
Some things are actually secret. Those get a one-time link.
Occasionally a job needs something secret: an API key, an ad account token. Those don't go in email and they don't go in a form on this website.
Send them with a one-time link instead: Bitwarden Send or 1Password's secure sharing both work, are free, and expire after I open them. If you'd rather not, say so and we'll find a way around needing it at all.
If you ever get a message claiming to be from me asking for a password, it isn't me. Forward it to hello@bobbykirby.com.
